When traveling during the holidays, try to get a good nights sleep, so that you can get up early. Contact either the airlines or the airport directly to get the most up to date information on flights.

  2. Step 2
    Boarding the plane

If the flight is going to be delayed, still try to get to the airport early. Utilize the airport phones, which are usually black, white or red. If still not sure where to locate them, ask an attendant in the area.

  3. Step 3

Once you have located the phones, contact the airline for your flight. In the event of a delay or even a cancellation have your airline check with other airlines to see if they can place you on a different flight or another airline all together.

  4. Step 4
    Going Home

If it appears that the attendant on the phone or either at the desk is not being helpful, ask for a supervisor. They have access to be able to check with other airlines or even to give vouchers for hotel accommodations as well as transportation. Make sure that if you get a transfer to another airline that your luggage is also transferred. Remember your goal is to get to the destination and the only way to get there is to remain calm.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to keep all your paperwork together.
  • Everyone stay together at all times.
  • Try to stay calm and focused on the problem at hand.
  • If unsure about anything, contact the airport or airlines.
  • For a lost child or just a lost party, contact airport security.
  • Keep your purse and carry-on items with you at all times.
  • Check to make sure you have the do's and don'ts before going through security, as some items are not allowed.
