About 20 million American women remove facial hair at least once a week. Hormones can cause your hair to turn coarse, especially facial hair. It's a normal part of the aging process and doesn't mean there's an increase in male hormones. Heredity determines how thickly hair follicles are distributed through your skin. Waxing is a good way to quickly remove excess hair.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wax
  • Applicator stick
  • Cotton strips
  • Lotion or cream
  • Mirror
  1. Step 1

Go to a beauty supply store or drug store and buy a waxing kit. This will include a tube or jar of wax, an applicator, strips and instructions.

  2. Step 2

Read the instructions thoroughly. Make sure you note how long the wax needs to be heated up. You could burn yourself if the wax is too hot.

  3. Step 3

Warm the wax in the microwave as instructed. Be careful when removing it.

  4. Step 4

Dip the applicator into the hot wax. Just put a little bit on there to start.

  5. Step 5

Spread the wax on one side of your chin. Make sure that area is completely covered. Immediately put the strip on top of it, applying pressure to smooth it down.

  6. Step 6

Holding your chin tight, quickly pull the strip from the bottom up. Touch the strip to your skin again if there's some wax residue left behind. Repeat these steps on the rest of your chin.

  7. Step 7

Apply a cooling lotion to soothe your chin when you're done. Reapply more later if there's still some stinging.

Tips & Warnings
  • Waxing may cause pimples to appear. If so, consider bleaching facial hair instead.
