Step 1
Consider the type of restaurants and type of foods that your mother enjoys. If she loves Mexican food, don't decide to try something "different" and take her to the new Chinese buffet around the corner. Also, plan ahead to know how many people will be attending the lunch or dinner, so that discussion can be handled prior to being at the restaurant when the bill comes, as to who is paying for the meal.
-
Step 2
Try a beautiful Mother's Day Brunch for your mom. These are always a big hit and always crowded, so advance planning is usually required. Many country clubs and hotels offer Mother's Day Brunch complete with tons of wonderful food options, desserts, music and even champagne. Make reservations as far in advance as possible and then verify the reservations within a week of Mother's Day.
-
Step 3
Pick a restaurant that your mother has wanted to dine at. Get online to research information about the restaurant and obtain a copy of the menu in advance to make sure that the meal options are what your mother may be expecting. Call ahead to make reservations and request various seating options if you are planning to have a large group. Some restaurants have banquet rooms available for large families or groups, but these are most often reserved ahead of time.
-
Step 4
Talk to the entire family if you have a large one to discuss and plan the Mother's Day restaurant outing in advance. There may be many mothers in your extended family and consideration should be given to all the mothers, special desires and all the children that will be attending.
-
Step 5
Help your mom out if she can't decide which restaurant she wants to go for Mother's Day. Drive her around to see several restaurants, ask her about her preferences and try to get menus for her to look at from the ones that she is considering. She may just leave the choice up to you, so you might want to do some price and menu comparisons before heading out for the Mother's Day meal.
-
Step 6
Call any restaurants you are considering to see if they are having any special menus or festivities for Mother's Day. Some may be giving free desserts or flowers to all mothers. Some may be having special buffets and others may have special music or photo options available.
-
Step 7
Make arrangements on Mother's Day if you cannot be with your mother. Some people live in different cities, across the country or are serving in the military. Call a family member or close family friend and ask them to take your mom to a restaurant that you know she would love and you pay for the meal. Distance should not be a problem when it comes to celebrating your mother.
