If your mother, or another special mother in your life, loves to shop, a shopping trip may be just the right gift for her on Mother's Day. It allows your mother to choose the gift she'd most enjoy, and it gives the both of you an excuse to spend time together. You need to plan ahead to create the best shopping trip for your mother on her special day.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you want to get her a gift certificate to a particular store, or if you want a more free-form shopping experience. If your mother is the type who won't let you pay for anything, get her a gift certificate for one of her favorite stores or for a store that sells items for a favorite hobby of hers. Otherwise, a more informal shopping spree may be in order.

  2. Step 2

Choose the time for your Mother's Day shopping excursion. You can have the excursion on Mother's Day if you know that she's free and the stores you want to visit are open, or you can let her choose the day. If you let her choose the day, create a certificate for her shopping spree to tuck in her card, even if you also include a gift certificate. This lets her know that you want to go with her.

  3. Step 3

Clear your schedule on the day of the Mother's Day shopping trip to make sure you can be relaxed during your time together.

  4. Step 4

Offer to drive, if the trip requires it, but be ready to let her drive if she prefers.

  5. Step 5

Schedule in an impromptu stop at a café or at her favorite restaurant after shopping, or in the middle of it. Taking some time to talk and enjoy good food together can help you get to know each other even better and can create fond memories.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have children, find a babysitter or recruit a family member to care for them while you're shopping.
  • Bring along additional siblings or spouses if this would add to your mother's enjoyment.
