How to Dress for a Day Spa Visit
A trip to the day spa can be a like a mini-vacation in the midst of your busy schedule. If you haven't been to a day spa before, though, the first trip can be a little disorienting because day spas tend to be more communal than a massage therapy clinic. To feel more at ease during your visit, you should know what to wear. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Find out if the day spa provides you with a kimono, robe or other spa-wear. Most day spas provide clothing to wear if you're getting full body treatments. If you're only getting a facial, manicure, pedicure or other similar service, you'll most likely wear your own clothes at the day spa, though you can still request a robe.

2
Realize that you can wear undergarments or a swimsuit for most full body treatments you get at a day spa. If you're especially modest or if your religious beliefs require you to wear undergarments, this won't interfere with most treatments. Talk to your therapist before your appointment if you have concerns.

3
Ask about footwear. To maintain pristine cleanliness, many spas don't allow people to wear street shoes in the treatment and lounge areas. However, they generally provide slip-on shoes for you to wear.

4
Understand that some facilities are co-ed. Some day spas offer pools, steam rooms, saunas and hot tubs that may not be private, and these may also be open to the other gender. In this case, you may be required to wear a swimsuit to use the facilities, or you may choose to wear one for your own comfort.

5
Leave jewelry at home, unless you're going to leave it on during your treatment. Most day spas provide lockers, but it's easier to leave jewelry at home so you don't need to worry about it.

6
Wear comfortable clothes but nothing too informal. Yoga pants and a comfortable shirt are appropriate, but as long as they're clothes that you're comfortable in and that are appropriate to wear in public, you're wearing the right thing. Even if you don't wear your clothes at the spa, their comfort helps extend the benefits of your spa treatments when you put them on to go home.
