How to Not Drink and Drive on Prom Night

Prom night is one of memories. You're supposed to dance the night away with your friends. It should not go down in history as the night you lost your license. Or, even worse, as the night you lost one of your best friends. Prom night is notoriously a dangerous night to be on the roads, as too many teens mix alcohol with driving. By planning ahead, you can rock your prom while still staying safe.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Make a pledge not to drink on prom night. It should be a fun and positive memory. Prom is something you've been looking forward to all your high school career.
Step2
Talk with your friends in advance about your plans. Make sure your parents know the agenda.
Step3
Plan what you're going to say and do if someone offers you alcohol or drugs. Keep it casual and tell them you'd prefer soda.
Step4
Rent a limo to bring you and your friends around. This is a sure-fire way to keep everyone safe. The driver will keep things under control. If you all chip in, it will be affordable.
Step5
Hire an older sibling, friend or parent to drive you to and from the prom. This will ensure a safe ride for everyone. If they have a cool car, it's even better.
Step6
Keep an eye on the driver to make sure he doesn't drink. Drinking alcohol slows response time and impairs judgement.

Tips & Warnings

  • Borrow your parents' cell phone if you don't have your own.
  • Always call your parents if you don't feel safe about a situation. No matter what time it is, they'd rather get a call from you than a call from the police department.
  • Always wear your seat belt.
  • Don't stuff more people in the car than can comfortably fit.
