In a world where fast food and eating on the run is so common, we sometimes forget simple dining etiquette. Eating soup is one of those things we get lazy about and don't do properly. To eat soup properly is simple. Below are a few tips to keep in mind when eating soup.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Insert the spoon into your soup and draw it away from you. This helps keep the soup from dripping from the spoon. Only fill your spoon three-quarters full. If you see some drips from the bottom of your spoon, gently scrape the rim of your bowl.

  2. Step 2

Sip the soup from the side of the spoon, and don't put the entire spoon bowl into your mouth. Remember, don't slurp your soup.

  3. Step 3

Get the last few spoonfuls of your soup by tilting the bowl away from you and scooping them up by continuing to draw the spoon away from you. It is not acceptable to drink your soup directly from your bowl.

  4. Step 4

Put the spoon in the soup bowl if you must put it down before you're finished eating your soup.

  5. Step 5

Place your spoon on the plate under your bowl when you're finished. Remember that your spoon should never touch the table cloth once it's been used.

Tips & Warnings
  • The larger spoon with a deeper bowl is usually your soup spoon.
  • Don't eat your bread with one hand and hold your soup spoon with the other.
  • Don't blow your soup if it's too hot. Let it sit and cool before you eat it.
