On prom night, you want every part of you--from the tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes--to look great. Getting a pre-prom manicure will help you relax and feel pampered. Many manicurists massages your hands and forearms as part of the treatment, resulting in a very indulgent afternoon.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Call your local salon to book an appointment. Prom season is a busy one for them, so plan ahead. Between up does and curls, salons are packed with prom queens.

  2. Step 2

Tell the salon if you'd like a regular manicure or if you want acrylic nails. There's a big difference between the two.

  3. Step 3

Get some friends to indulge in manicures, too. It's a great way to have a fun girls day.

  4. Step 4

Show up with an idea of what kind of manicure you want. Choose between French manicure or regular nail polish. Decide if you want square or oval tips.

  5. Step 5

Pick a nail polish color. Make sure it compliments and doesn't compete with your dress color. Keep in mind your lipstick, too. If you're unsure, stick to a frosty pink.

  6. Step 6

Relax and be pampered. The manicurist will shape and file your nails, soak and exfoliate them, work on your cuticles and finally apply the polish.

  7. Step 7

Have an at-home manicure party as part of your pre-prom festivities. Invite all your girlfriends over and give each other manicures. This can be a great, fun way to forget about the stresses that go along with getting ready for the biggest night of your lives--so far, anyway.
