Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Bring flowers. Different schools have different traditions as to what kinds of flowers are common. At some schools, the guy gives his date a wrist or pin corsage. At other schools, the gentleman might give his date a bouquet or a single flower. Ask a florist near your school for suggestions or check your high school yearbook for ideas.
Step2
Be on time to pick up your date. A gentleman makes sure that he is ready on time and at his date's house with plenty of time for parents to take pictures, if they choose to.
Step3
Compliment your prom date when you first see her. Many girls spend lots of time and money getting ready for prom. Make sure you acknowledge this with a compliment.
Step4
Hold doors open for your prom date. If you are taking a limo to prom, you might want to ask your date if she would like you to get in first so she doesn't accidentally tear her dress while scooting around the car. A true gentleman shows that he is considerate of his prom date.
Step5
Ask if your prom date would like a glass of punch. Many girls will walk with their date to get drinks and appetizers, but it's always polite to offer to do it yourself.
Step6
Offer your coat to your prom date. This might be useful if your prom party moves outdoors. Your prom date will definitely appreciate the gesture.
Step7
Take your prom date's hand or offer her your arm as you walk between the car and the front door to prom. Some girls are not used to wearing fancy shoes and they might appreciate a little balancing help.
Step8
Tell your prom date that you had a fun time. Even if you've said it during the prom, remind your date of it at the end of the night, when you bring her home.
