Deep Fry Coke is all the rage at state fairs. If this dessert sounds weird to you, recall that cornbread around a hotdog on a stick probably sounded weird, but the corndog has become a regular at state fairs everywhere. Today almost everything can be fried, including Coca Cola.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Make the Fried Coke

Step1
Find a great funnel cake recipe. Instead of adding water and sugar to the batter, add a cup and a half of Coke to the recipe. Mix it well until it acquires a thick consistency.
Step2
Add some vegetable oil in a deep fryer. Heat the vegetable oil until it gets to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step3
Spoon or pour the batter carefully into hot vegetable oil in a circular motion. You can add the batter to a turkey baster to make it easier to pour.
Step4
Let the batter fry for about a minute, and then flip it with tongs to the other side. Fry it on that side for another minute.
Step5
Remove the cooked batter and lay it on paper towels to drain.

Serve the Fried Coke

Step1
Place the fried Coke on a plate while it is still warm.
Step2
Drizzle it with some Coca Cola syrup.
Step3
Add whipped cream and a cherry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar or cinnamon sugar if desired before adding the Coca-cola syrup.
  • Serve the dessert in a Coca Cola cup, if you like.
  • If your batter is too thick or becomes thick, add more Coke to the batter.
