Feng shui is based on a Chinese system of balancing the natural elements and forces of the earth to create a healthy, harmonious environment. Using principles of feng shui to arrange your bedroom allows you to create a restful spot where you can relax and sleep better.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Paint your walls. Use light pastel colors or neutrals throughout your bedroom to create a restful environment in which you can sleep peacefully. The carpet and linens should blend with this color scheme.

  2. Step 2

Move your bed. Place the head of your bed against a wall, but not in a corner. Leaving space on both sides of your bed allows energy to circle around you, maximizing your rest.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you can see the door from your bed, without being directly across from it. This "command post" position will increase your feelings of security and relaxation.

  4. Step 4

Remove your television, electronic equipment and exercise equipment from your bedroom. Feng shui principles state that these all carry active energy and can disturb the tranquility you want for your bedroom.

  5. Step 5

Take good care of your plants. If you have any living plants in your bedroom, make sure they are green and healthy. Dead or sickly plants will disturb the balance of the room's energy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never keep paperwork or homework in your bedroom at night. Its negative energy can disrupt your sleep.
