Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Start by determining the size and capacity of the misting fan. Commercial size misting fans are out of place in the domestic backyard environment. Get a misting fan that is unobtrusive but still provides ample cooling.
Step2
Get small misting fans for the average backyard cooling needs. The smaller fans are relatively inexpensive for providing the equivalent of an outdoor air conditioner. Small fans are best for poolside or sunbathing. These fans can be purchased at any large department store.
Step3
Buy a large capacity misting fan with a cooler to cool down a big backyard. Some models have a beer keg size cooler attached which can be filled with ice cold water. Larger capacity misting fans provide a veritable cloud of cooling.
Step4
Shop around online and at large department stores in the late springtime or early fall. These are the best times for bargain hunters to find the best values. The misting fan may be last year's model, but no one will mind when they are relaxing in the fan's cooling spray.
Step5
Install vertically mounted misting fans on the ceiling of a covered patio. The unobtrusive fans stay out of the way and provide welcomed relief during backyard barbecues.
