Quickly and easily create media files for use with Windows or for Internet streaming with Windows Media Encoder 9.0. The program also comes with the option to create a distribution for files and portable devices, and to distribute the media onto CD or DVD. Here's how to start using Windows Media Encoder 9.0.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Click on Start in the lower left-hand corner of the desktop screen. Then select All Programs, Windows Media and Windows Media Encoder to open the application.
Step2
Select the type of project you want to create from the list in the dialog box. Five different types of projects can be created using the wizards in Windows Media Encoder: Custom Session, Broadcast a Live Event, Capture Audio or Video, Convert a File and Capture Screen. Choosing any one of these will open a wizard that will get you started creating the file by providing the default options that are normally used with no problems.
Step3
Follow the steps in the wizard for the type of project that has been selected to create the project.
Step4
Save the project. Close Windows Media Encoder 9.0 and return to Windows.

Tips & Warnings

  • The wizard may ask for the input devices or files to use during the creation of a project. If an error is made, simply close the session and start a new one. No files are modified or created until the wizard's Creation button is selected.
