Tap dancing is both enjoyable to watch and to do. Whether you're 5 or 55, it's never too late to learn how to tap dance. The Shuffle Off to Buffalo is a fun, intermediate tap step. The best part is that the step looks harder than it is, so once you master it you'll look like a pro.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tap shoes
  • Your favorite music
  1. Step 1

Start with your legs shoulder length apart.

  2. Step 2

Begin on your right side. Bring your right foot off the ground a few inches and place it right back down.

  3. Step 3

Shuffle your left foot out to the left side of your body. When shuffling, move your foot towards the left, allowing the ball of your foot to touch the floor as you move your leg away and then again when you bring your leg back toward your body.

  4. Step 4

Place your left foot back in starting position and transfer all your weight to that leg as you bring your right leg up and cross it in front of your left leg. Your knee will be slightly lower than hip level, and the middle of your right calf will be in front of your left knee, although your legs aren't touching.

  5. Step 5

Repeat the Shuffle Off to Buffalo as many times as you like on the right side.

  6. Step 6

Start the Shuffle Off to Buffalo on the left side by beginning with your left leg and reversing the entire step.

  7. Step 7

Practice whenever you have time. Just choose your favorite, upbeat music and tap away.
