How to Collect Vintage Whiskey Bottles

A vintage whiskey bottle collection is an eclectic addition to your home décor, especially in a bar or a kitchen. Starting a vintage whiskey bottle collection doesn't call for a huge initial investment. You just have to know how to find them at a good price and that is easier than you may think.

Instructions

    • 1

Browse through antique stores. Just because it is an antique store doesn't mean that all of the items are expensive. Look for vintage whiskey bottles placed on shelves or inside cabinets.

    • 2

Go to the thrift store, a place that usually has a variety of relatively inexpensive vintage bottles for sale.

    • 3

Visit a flea market. You can find anything at a flea market, including vintage whiskey bottles. Barter with the flea market vendor to get the best price.

    • 4

Flip through the pages of an online auction website such as eBay. Often, the seller will offers information about the bottle such as its age and whether or not it has any historical significance.

    • 5

Consider going to garage sales. People get rid of everything that they have collected over the years, making garage sales a haven for vintage whiskey bottles at low prices.

Tips & Warnings

  • Look for well-known whiskey names such as Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker and J&B. Finding these bottles will be easier because they are widely produced.

  • Buy based on what you like. If you like square as opposed to round whiskey bottles, buy the square ones.

  • Start small. Be sure that you actually like collecting vintage whiskey bottles before you spend a lot of money and put a lot of time into it. You may find that you do not like it and it is better to determine that before you waste a lot of your time and money on the activity.
