Things You'll Need:
- Measuring tape
- Paper
- Pen/Pencil
-
Step 1
The first step to a great fit is knowing your exact measurements.
-
Step 2
Using a measuring tape, measure around your waist where the top of your jeans would sit. For example, if you like them low, measure around the part of your waist where you would want them to sit. Write this number down on a piece of paper.
-
Step 3
Next you should measure the rise. This is the distance between the closure of your jeans to the bottom of the crotch of the jeans. So you measure the length here and write this down under your waist measurement.
-
Step 4
Now it is time for measuring the inseam. This is the distance from the crotch of the jeans to the bottom of the jean leg. Measure your own length and write this down under your rise measurement.
-
Step 5
Now that you know your measurements it's time to find the perfect pair of jeans. There are many different types of jeans available today such as low rise, classic, straight, skinny, baggy and carpenter.
-
Step 6
When you choose a style you like you will need to find the size according to your measurements. The size on the jeans will usually give you a waist size along with the length. The length you will compare to your inseam measurement.
-
Step 7
You want to pick jeans that you can fit your thumb into the waistband. You will not know if they will shrink after their first wash and you want them to fit comfortably.
-
Step 8
Try to get a pair of jeans that have the perfect length. The perfect length jeans are the ones that fall right to the bottom of the back of your shoe. This way they are not dragging the ground but are not too high showing your socks.
-
Step 9
Be sure they fit comfortably in all areas. They should stay on your hips and accent whatever areas you choose to accent. This is the best fit for you!
