Maybe you're hoping to make some extra money this summer to buy a car. Or, maybe you need some money for college. There are plenty of summer jobs available. It's the time of year most stores and restaurants beef up their staff.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Prepare a list of your employment history, qualifications and references. You'll need to have all this information on hand before filling out any applications.

  2. Step 2

Start laying the groundwork early. In the early spring, decide where you might want to work. Think of places that usually add staff in the summer like restaurants, hotels, parks, pools and stores.

  3. Step 3

Browse online job posting sites as well as the newspaper classifieds. There are several websites devoted to helping you find a job. Also check the classifieds to see what's open.

  4. Step 4

Inquire with local store managers and restaurants about openings. Stop by and ask them if they anticipate adding staff in the summer. Ask them how they handle the hiring process.

  5. Step 5

Fill out applications. Write down your work experience, education and references. If there's room available, write down why you'd like to work there and how you'd benefit the company.

  6. Step 6

Follow up with a phone call. If it's been a few weeks and you haven't heard from them about the job, check in to see if they're hired yet.

  7. Step 7

Show up on time for your interview. Make sure you dress appropriately for the position you want.
