After school has ended for the year, many high school and college students are in need of a summer job. A good position to hold during the summer months is a job tutoring. This position gives you a chance to work with kids and a tutoring job looks good on your resume. The only challenge that you may face is finding a tutoring job.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Talk to your teacher. Ask one of your favorite teachers if he or she would like some help tutoring over the summer.

  2. Step 2

Sign up to be a tutor online. Virtual tutoring is on the rise and can be an ideal position for the summer employee. Apply for a tutoring job on a website like Tutors Teach.

  3. Step 3

Look through the classifieds. Check the classifieds daily for new tutoring jobs. Only respond to ads with academic subjects that you are qualified to tutor in. Search through online classifieds as well like Craigslist.

  4. Step 4

Check with local learning centers about securing a summer job as a tutor. Places like Sylvan Learning Center are on the constant look out for new tutors.

  5. Step 5

Pass out flyers advertising your services. If you can't find a job, bring the job to you. Put out the word that you are going to be tutoring students for the summer and see if you can generate some interest.

Tips & Warnings
  • Summer tutoring jobs are also good positions for teachers who are off during the summer months. A parent or teaching institution is more likely to hire an educator rather than a student.
  • If you wish to bring the clients to you, make up flyers and go to places that are inundated with school age children. For example, a community pool or YMCA is a good place to meet potential clients.
