Everyone has heard the term "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle." Many people only think of obvious things to reuse, such as bottles and bags, and don't consider some of the larger items that we throw away. An old broom may be too worn out and dirty to use around the house; however, it doesn't have to be thrown into the garbage. You can reuse old brooms in a number of creative and useful ways.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Add a creative touch to your walls by turning an old broom into a textured paintbrush. Remove the handle and clean the bristles as much as possible. Place only the tips of the broom into the paint and dab the brush against the paint tray before applying to the walls. Practice on a piece of newspaper to perfect your technique and design before applying the paint.

  2. Step 2

Reuse an old broom to tidy up your garden and flower beds. A traditional rake can damage delicate plants and often doesn't pick up fine leaves, twigs or grass clippings. An old broom will quickly and gently pick up small debris from the dirt around your flowers or vegetables.

  3. Step 3

Turn your old broom into a scarecrow. Place the handle firmly into the ground, and the scarecrows head around the broom head. The bristles will make perfect scarecrow hair. If you have two old brooms, you can remove the handle from one and connect it horizontally to the first broom to make the scarecrows arms.

  4. Step 4

Remove the handle of an old broom and reuse the bristled head to keep your car clean. Brush dirt, sand and snow from your shoes before getting into the car or pick up crumbs and debris from your cars floor or seat with a quick brush of the broom.
