You walk out of the salon and instantly you know. This haircut is awful and you feel hideous. There is nothing you feel like doing right now except putting a bag over your head and waiting four months for it to grow out. A bad haircut can make you feel like hiding. Here are several different approaches for dealing with a bad haircut.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to a new stylist (or the same stylist if you feel comfortable) and get the cut altered if possible. Bring in photos of haircuts you love. Find a stylist that is preferably referred by a friend.

  2. Step 2

Discuss the best way to grow out your cut. Most haircuts must be grown out in stages. Your hairstylist can help you with the growing out process by recommending trims that keep your hair healthy while still maximizing outgrowth.

  3. Step 3

Pull your hair back and experiment with putting your hair up with clips and bobby pins. Even short hair can be styled with clips. Make it look like you have a fancy up do.

  4. Step 4

Style your hair in a new way. Cope by creating a new look. Curl, straighten, or crimp your hair to give it new dimension. You may actually find a way of styling your hair that you love.

  5. Step 5

Invest in some gorgeous hats and scarves. Cover up your cut if you truly can't stand it. You don't have to sacrifice fashion. Look in your favorite magazines for hats that are in style and chic.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're a man, shave it off and start over again. Courageous women can do the same.
  • Do not cut your hair yourself or allow a friend to do it. Find a professional to fix your bad haircut.
