Spring is the season of renewal, so why not add some life to your hair that has been hiding under a hat all winter with a flattering spring hairdo? A flattering hairdo depends almost entirely on the shape of your face. Here are some simple guidelines to help you find the most flattering hairdo for spring.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose soft layers that begin at your favorite facial features if your face is oval shaped. Have fantastic cheekbones? Have your layers start there. Perfect pouty lips? Then highlight that kisser by having your layers begin at your lips. Try a simple chin-length bob cut to enhance your features.

  2. Step 2

Opt for long bangs that are swept to the side to flatter your oblong shaped face. Also, go for a medium length cut. Any shorter and the length of your face will be exaggerated.

  3. Step 3

Select soft layers and longer bangs if you have a cherub-like round face. Soft layers and longer bangs will balance out the width of your face by creating the illusion of length.

  4. Step 4

Go for texture if your face is square. In order to flatter a square-shaped face, you need to soften your features. Try a textured cut where you can "piece out" the ends or soft layers that begin at or slightly below your strong jaw line. Smooth and sleek hairdos also flatter square faces, so invest in a quality flat iron.

  5. Step 5

Decide on longer bangs that fringe on the ends for your heart-shaped face. Bangs cut in this soft and romantic style will add balance to the bottom of your face. Go for mid-length cuts that begin below the jaw line.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid hairdos that are all one length if your face shape is anything but oval. Hairdos that are all one length will over-exaggerate features on your face and sometimes come off as looking too severe.
