Leading up to the NCAA's March Madness are a series of conference championships that define one more weekend of eye-melting basketball games. These tournaments are important because they offer automatic seeds in the national tournament that usually starts the following weekend. None are bigger and more prestigious than the Big 10 tournament. Powerhouses like Michigan and Indiana square off and play great basketball with a lot at stake. Seeing the tournament in person is an exciting, memorable experience.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn about Big 10 basketball by visiting its webpage or by reading the various sporting journals--"Sporting News" or "College Basketball." See who's ranked and what players are leading the conference stats.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Big 10 webpage that deals with its championships. Check the time and place for the men's championship. This varies every year.

  3. Step 3

Understand that the Big 10 does not itself sell tickets to the championship. Sales are handled through a ticket vendor, for example, Ticketmaster for the 2007 championship, and at the arena where the championship is to be held.

  4. Step 4

Check with commercial ticket vender's for ticket availability, until the ticket vendor is identified (the championship webpage usually goes up in December). Most secondary vender's have notification e-mail systems notifying clients when tickets are available.

  5. Step 5

Call one of the Big 10 athletic departments to see if they have ticket information. Try Ticketmaster.

  6. Step 6

Realize that going through a secondary vendor may cost you more than buying from the primary vendor.

  7. Step 7

Do your checking EARLY--the latest being October preceding the tournament. Tickets are a fast break item.
