Instructions

    • 1

Clean the equipment. Before storing for the summer, take a wash cloth with warm soapy water and clean off all the dirt from the skis and the bindings. Dry thoroughly to ensure that your skis or bindings are not damaged because of prolonged exposure to water.

    • 2

Apply wax to your edges to prevent the skis from rusting while in storage.

    • 3

Leave bindings open so they are not stretched unnecessarily. When that happens, they won't work as well the following year. Leaving your bindings open throughout the off-season will prevent this from happening.

    • 4

Find a dry spot. Storing your skis in a humid environment may cause the metal parts to rust, no matter how many preventative measures you take. Keep the skis in a relatively dry area of your home to prevent rusting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider going to a ski shop and getting your skis professionally hot waxed. Do this especially if this is your first year skiing. A professional waxing will ensure that your edges will not rust.

  • Avoid leaning your skis up against water pipes because the pipes get hot and cold, and your skis will become damaged because of the heat, cold and condensation that forms on the pipes.
