Nothing is better than Spring Break. Of course, you're going to need extra money to have a good time. But how much should you plan to bring? Once you've created a Spring Break budget, you'll be able to enjoy your vacation without worry.

From Quick Guide: Get Away for Spring
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start saving early. Most Spring Break packages start at about $1000, and the more perks you get, such as included drinks, airfare and meals, the bigger the price tag. Start setting aside money every week. Save as much as you can. You'll be glad later.

  2. Step 2

Make a list of things you plan to do while on Spring Break. You might want to sit on the beach and enjoy the drinks in your all-inclusive deal. You might want to check out the biggest clubs for concerts or just to dance the night away. Include all of the fun stuff, but also consider necessities, such as eating, cover charges, tipping or taking cabs.

  3. Step 3

Look at your list, and draw a dollar sign next to everything that is not included in your Spring Break package. To make your budget, try to predict the maximum amount of money you'll need for each activity. Do not under estimate. If you usually spend $20 when you go out to eat dinner, write $20 for each time dinner appears on your list.

  4. Step 4

Add up your dollar amounts. This is the target amount. You should try to save about this much money for your trip. If you save a little more, you might be able to splurge extra on a meal once or twice. If you save less, you might want to stay in your hotel room during lunch and make yourself peanut butter sandwiches.

  5. Step 5

Stick to your budget while you're on Spring Break. If you know you only have enough money to spend $25 dollars on drinks for a night, do not spend more than that. You'll regret it later in the week when all of your friends are still partying and you're broke.

Tips & Warnings
  • Each time you go out, you might choose to only bring the money that you plan to spend. For example, if you're going to two clubs, bring $20 for cover, $30 for drinks and $30 for a cab. By only bringing the money you'll need, you'll force yourself to stay within your budget.
  • Bring a credit card. Okay, you've made a budget, but odds are you've underestimated somewhere. Things are more expensive than you think. Bring a credit card. This way you'll have extra money if you've made a big mistake with your budget. But still try your best to keep to your budget. Paying back credit cards for the next four months might not be worth it.
