A day or two at the beach is always a welcome break from your busy schedule, but a crowded beach can ruin your much needed get away. To ensure that your day off at the beach is enjoyable, you must stake your claim before the beach becomes too crowded. Even crowded beaches can be relaxing if you think ahead and create your oasis.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Arrive at the beach early. Beaches tend to get more crowded throughout the morning, so getting there early allows you to choose the perfect spot.
Step2
Pick a spot away from trashcans or walkways. Although these locations are convenient for coming and going, they are inconvenient due to the number of passersby. People walking by tend to get your area sandy and disrupt your relaxing day at the beach.
Step3
Check the high and low tide schedule and pick a spot that will not require moving halfway through the day. Even if you enjoy sitting at the waters edge, you can still set up camp in a neutral location and move your chairs down to the water when you want to enjoy the waves.
Step4
Set up a perimeter around your area. Lay out towels and mats as soon as you find your perfect spot. Use bags or coolers at the edge of your claimed area so that the people setting up next to you cannot infringe on your area and make you feel crowded.
Step5
Use umbrellas or shade tents to create a sense of privacy. You can tilt umbrellas to create a barrier from nosy neighbors or go under shade tents to get a break from the sun or others. Not to mention, a little shade throughout the day is always a good idea.
