Dowsing is a way of seeing information through the means of non-ordinary perception. In short, it is the process of receiving answers to yes and no questions with the use of an instrument. This article pertains to the methods of dowsing with a pendulum.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Purchase the right type of pendulum. Many energy workers use pendulums made of crystal while others prefer pear shaped ones made of beech wood. Be sure the chain of your pendulum is approximately 3 to 5 inches long.
Step2
Prepare your mind prior to the dowsing session. Having your mind in a calm neutral state will allow the subconscious to take control while lessening the chance of conscious pendulum movement.
Step3
Find a quiet place to perform the dowsing session where you will be free of distractions.
Step4
Grasp the pendulum string with the thumb and finger. While maintaining a mentally neutral and relaxed position hold the instrument out in front of you (at a 45-degree angle) with your arm outstretched.
Step5
Begin swinging the pendulum gently back and forth or diagonally until a constant motion is achieved.
Step6
Ask what a "yes" answer will look like and what a "no" answer will appear as. Once these two pendulum patterns have been established, you are ready to begin with your questions.
Step7
Practice your dowsing technique until you become proficient at reading the basic pendulum responses. Some answers will be difficult to decipher at first but will become clearer with persistent practice.
Step8
Begin each session by asking your higher self if you are capable, have permission and have the best interest of others to perform the dowsing technique. If you receive a no answer to any of these questions, put away the pendulum and try again later.
