Shining your shoes can be a messy process that includes chemical laden products, stains on your hands and a harsh odor that never seems to leave your shoes, but now, you can leave that all behind. Banana peels are great to use for a quick and easy buffer for your favorite pair of shoes. Using banana peels is fast, easy and leaves no mess or unpleasant odor.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Banana
  • Scissors or knife
  1. Step 1

Peel a banana and enjoy the tasty fruit. To shine your shoes, it is best to use a slightly green banana peel as the inside of the skin will not 'shed' as much, and is drier than a fully ripe banana.

  2. Step 2

Cut both of the ends off of the peel and cut the skin into easy to use pieces. A knife will do; however, scissors are the best tool for the job.

  3. Step 3

Rub the peel in circular motions into your shoes. Banana peel can be used on virtually any type of shoe, from leather to vinyl. Replace the old peel with a new piece as it begins to become thin. Once all of the scratches are removed and the shoes are evenly coated, allow them to set for just a few minutes.

  4. Step 4

Buff the surface of your shoes to a shiny polish using a clean soft cloth. It is important to choose a cloth that will not shed, such as paper towel, which will stick to the surface and do not polish as well. A small piece of linen or an old cotton t-shirt works great. Reapply banana peel to any area you feel needs it and look at your shoes shine.
