You've made the decision and the commitment to become a leader in your church. It isn't as if your congregation will suddenly know you want to take a leadership role, but it isn't really something you should announce, either. Rather, your actions need to show your new role. Read on for some simple tips on how to create a leadership position for yourself.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Attend weekly services. This may sound like a simple thing but it gets noticed.
Step2
Greet everyone with a smile and a handshake. Make sure to introduce yourself to visitors and new members by name several times. Remember, they are meeting a large group of people. Make them feel welcome.
Step3
Talk with the pastor. No one knows the needs of the congregation as well as the church's spiritual leader. Let him or her know of your commitment and ask for guidance. Chances are you will be welcomed with open arms.
Step4
Let Sunday school and youth leaders know that you are an available resource. Everyone has times when they cannot meet their responsibilities. Having someone to call on for help is critical in the success of any program.
Step5
Evaluate the congregation to see what needs you can meet, whether it be a food drive for the hungry or yard work for the elderly or infirm. Gather some other church members and help meet those needs.
Step6
Facilitate a fellowship group. Connect with others who share your interests inside and outside of church by creating a group where you can meet and share ideas and advice. This support is a wonderful resource for everyone.
