How to Do a St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl

Two things leap to the adult mind when thinking of St. Patrick's Day: Wearing green and imbibing adult beverages. Joining a pub crawl can be a fun and safe way to celebrate: fun because you're hitting several hot-spots with lots of people; safe because you are relieved of the burden of driving. This year you should round up a group of friends and do a St. Patrick's Day pub crawl. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Contact a local radio station before St. Patrick's Day if you need information regarding the pub crawl. Find out where it begins and how much it costs to participate, purchase a wristband, etc. You can often save money by purchasing tickets or wristbands in advance as opposed to the day of the event.

    • 2

Purchase your pub crawl contraband from one of the participating bars or nightclubs.

    • 3

Get decked out in as much green as possible to show your holiday spirit at the event. Not only is it customary, but you are likely to get pinched (often) if you choose not to don the traditional color.

    • 4

Show up at the pub crawl kick-off location at the appointed time. Start socializing, have a few beers and get into the spirit of the festivities. Decide whether you are going to hang out at that spot for a while or follow the pub crawl to its next destination.

    • 5

Assemble with the rest of the pub crawl group at the front of the bar to await the pub crawl bus, trolley, etc. Hit the next location and resume festivities. Again, decide at the new location if you are going to hang out for a while or rejoin the pub crawl group to the next location.

Tips & Warnings

  • The pub crawl transportation will make several stops at each location throughout the course of the evening, so if you miss the group at one point, just find out when they will be coming through your location again.

  • Enjoy the holiday responsibly with minimal fighting and even less police involvement.

Remember to avoid wearing orange with your green, as orange is the color of Irish Protestants whereas green is the color of Irish Catholics. There weren't peacekeepers in Northern Ireland for nothing.
