St. Patrick's Day is a national holiday celebrating the Irish people. There are parades and other festivities and an all-important part of the celebration is the traditional Irish food. Making the traditional Irish menu for St. Patrick's Day is easy and among other things always includes potatoes and corned beef.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cook the Americanized version of traditional Irish food. Traditional Irish food that is usually eaten on the day of their holiday is Corned Beef and Cabbage, Irish Soda Bread and possibly even Colconnan. Colconnan is a dish made with a mixture of cabbage, potatoes, leeks and milk. It is much like mashed potatoes but has a different flavor.

  2. Step 2

Prepare more traditional Irish food by investigating more about the Irish people. More traditional for them would be ham and cabbage or bacon and cabbage, Irish lamb stew, potatoes, and some form of Irish soda bread possibly seasoned with herbs.

  3. Step 3

Make a traditional Irish dessert, which may include apple-potato cake, Irish apple cake or Irish whisky cake. One other item is traditionally associated with this day is green beer. Many people use this day as an excuse to imbibe excessively.
