There are so many camps available for kids now. Although the parent will have the final decision when picking an overnight camp, the child should also have a right to express their interest and concerns. There are many camps and finding the right one requires a careful decision making process.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on what camp best fits the child's needs. There are many camps to choose from such as adventure, fitness, nature and sporting camps. Obviously a young child who has no interest in sports would not benefit from a football or soccer camp.

  2. Step 2

Research all information regarding the overnight camp. Ask other families and children their thoughts on the camp and what they enjoyed most about it. Also ask what they did not like about it and why.

  3. Step 3

Ask questions regarding the camp counselors, qualifications and back ground check. It's okay to ask these types of questions, as you want to make sure your child is safe and well taken care of.

  4. Step 4

Choose a camp that fits into your budget. Call around and compare prices of several different ones. The cost all depends on what each camp has to offer and the length of the camp stay.

  5. Step 5

Ask the child what camp they would like to attend. After all, they're the one going to the camp and they need to enjoy the time they spend there. Find out if friends of the child are attending or may want to attend the same one. It's always more fun going away if someone you know is going along as well.

  6. Step 6

Pick a camp that offers what your child is looking for. Ask yourself if it will benefit them through learning and activities. Hopefully when it has come to an end, your child will return home full of knowledge and wonderful experiences. Most importantly, choose a camp that is fun.
