Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Make a special appointment for the discussion of the problem. If you wait until it is time for a physical, you may have too many other things occurring at the visit. A delay in time can potentially increase the problem.
Step2
Note whether an erection occurs at all. If you have a nocturnal erection, then it usually means that all physical structures are working well. Not all men have nocturnal erections so the opposite is not necessarily true.
Step3
Discuss whether any erection is obtained. Erections that are lost easily or not completely full can be a sign that there may be a condition involving the cardiovascular system or a failure of the ability to keep blood in the penis.
Step4
See if the doctor wishes to check for diabetes. Diabetes is another leading cause of erectile dysfunction.
Step5
Open up about your stress levels. Stress and psychological disorders are a leading cause. Your doctor needs to know what's happening in your life in order to adequately help you.
Step6
Ask your doctor to check your hormone levels, if he thinks it's necessary. A decrease in testosterone can be a reason for erectile dysfunction, and your doctor can discuss this with you further.
Step7
Feel relaxed. While it can be embarrassing to discuss, know that this is the first step to solving the problem. Once the issue is addressed, understand that the doctor has heard the issues many times and you aren't alone. Sexual functions are no different than any other function of the body and should be treated as such.
