Instructions

    • 1

Make a hole in the top of a raw egg with a pin. Gently make the holes larger until the top quarter of the shell has been removed.

    • 2

Drain the egg from the shell. Carefully rinse the egg shell, removing all debris from the inner shell.

    • 3

Dye the eggshells with an Easter egg dying kit. Follow the manufacturer instructions for the best results.

    • 4

Set the eggshell in an egg carton. Work on several eggs at once for ease and speed.

    • 5

Cut 4-inch lengths of wire wick. Flatten the bottom end of the wick. Dip the bottom in hot wax and secure it to the bottom of each egg shell.

    • 6

Melt candle wax according to the manufacturer instructions. Tint the wax with dye pellets, and add scented oil if desired. Pour the hot wax slowly through a funnel into each egg shell.

    • 7

Let the eggshell votives sit until the wax is completely cool. Trim the wicks to 1/4 of an inch before burning.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Place eggshell votives on a tempered surface for burning. Do not burn the candles in the egg carton.

  • Melted wax is extremely hot and can burn your skin.
