Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paint
  • Paneling
  • Chairs or couch
  • Lamps
  • Ceiling fan
  • Table
  • Potted plants
  1. Step 1

Make a list detailing the functions or ideas that you want your garden room to incorporate. Decide whether you want a lot of seating or more of your favorite plants. Determine if you want to incorporate a color scheme into your planning.

  2. Step 2

Create an ambiance outside of your room. You want a view that matches the ideas you're incorporating inside your garden room. Strategically place trees, bushes, gardens, bird feeders, bird houses or a water fountain outside the windows.

  3. Step 3

Incorporate all five senses into your indoor garden planning. Paint the walls a bright, sunny color that harmonizes with the color in your plants, such as a green or blue. Also add texture to your walls by paneling and painting over it or just putting plain, wooden paneling on one full wall. Install sweet-smelling plants or candles that you can light to add a nice aroma or ambiance.

  4. Step 4

Fill your room with comfy, stylish chairs that add character. It won't take your friends and family long to figure out that your garden room is a relaxing and enjoyable spot. You should be able to accommodate them all without feeling squished.

  5. Step 5

Place your chairs strategically so that you can enjoy the natural light during the day.

  6. Step 6

Attach a ceiling fan so you can keep the room warm enough for your tropical plants but cool enough to enjoy. Also, make sure that there's a table on which you can set cups and plates and a few of your favorite books.

  7. Step 7

Fill your garden room with your favorite plants. Use various-sized pots and planters or hanging baskets to create a room that incorporates all styles of plants for a varied look. Put your plants on decorative boxes or milk crates to create a more distinctive look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Create your garden room in a place that's close to the rest of the household but still allows some privacy.
