The American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton in 1881 to provide aid and comfort in emergencies. It now operates all over the globe. You can take steps to celebrate American Red Cross Month at your workplace during March.

  • Red Cross flags
  • Emergency kit supplies
  • Poster board and markers
  1. Step 1

    Order official Red Cross clothing and gifts as prizes to encourage participation in celebration activities. Besides encouraging participation, you are contributing to the Red Cross through your purchases.

  2. Step 2

    Fly the American Red Cross flag over your place of work or on vehicles during the month of March.

  3. Step 3

    Create or review an emergency plan for your workplace during the month of March. Designate evacuation routes and meeting places. Post telephone numbers and procedures.

  4. Step 4

    Assemble an emergency kit and store it at your workplace in case you can't evacuate. Include bottled water, first aid supplies, nonperishable foods, blankets and fold-up cots.

  5. Step 5

    Start a blood drive at your workplace. Encourage people to donate blood to the American Red Cross during March. Make posters and put them up to encourage everyone to donate.

  6. Step 6

    Schedule a Red Cross First Aid and CPR course at your workplace. Encourage everyone to attend.

  7. Step 7

    Plan to volunteer time or money to the American Red Cross during March. Lead a fund drive at your workplace. Offer a service to the first 50 customers during March, and donate the fees collected to the American Red Cross. Let your customers know the fees are being donated.
