How to Ignore Mother's Day

Mother's Day, held on the second Sunday in May, is a day to celebrate all things mom. Normally, husbands, dads and children will shower their moms or wives with presents and cards and tell them how much they are appreciated. If for some reason you want to ignore Mother's Day, here are some ways in which you can avoid this holiday.

Instructions

    • 1

Don't mention Mother's Day to your wife or mother at all. You can act like you don't even know that it is Mother's Day.

    • 2

Refrain from giving your wife or mother a gift or a card for the holiday. This means avoiding all flower shops, candy stores, jewelry stores, lingerie stores and card stores. Without a card or a gift, you are on your way to successfully ignoring Mother's Day.

    • 3

Ask your mother or wife to make and serve you breakfast. Asking either to cook for you, instead of the other way around, goes a long way toward showing that you are ignoring this holiday.

    • 4

Go out somewhere by yourself, leaving your wife to watch the kids on her own. Don't volunteer to take the kids out for the day to give your wife a break. Treat the day as if it isn't a special day.

    • 5

Forget to help you own children remember Mother's Day. Don't take them shopping for a card or gifts for mom. Don't help them make mom a card or a gift. This will show that not only are you ignoring Mother's Day, but that your children are as well.

    • 6

Don't calls your mom to wish her a happy Mother's Day. If you are asked why you never called, you can always say that you just didn't have the time.

    • 7

Keep yourself occupied to take your mind off Mother's Day. If you truly want to ignore the holiday, go out with the guys for the day or work in the yard. Go see a movie so you can be removed from all of the Mother's Day celebrations.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ignoring your mother or wife on Mother's Day is not a good idea. Most mothers like this particular holiday and want to be recognized and pampered a little.

  • Be aware that if you ignore Mother's Day, there's a good chance that Father's Day will go unnoticed.
