Step 1
Spread the word about your available billboard space. One of the most efficient ways to do this is to post a sign on your vacant billboard stating that it is for sale and give a phone number to call. You might also consider contacting businesses around the area of the vacant billboard to let them know about the opening.
-
Step 2
Close in on your competitors. You can contact companies who already have billboards around your space for sale. Let them know about the opportunity and tell them that they can move their sign to yours at the end of their lease.
-
Step 3
Encourage group sales. These are often called "showings" and they're great for your billboard sales career. Encourage the company to purchase several billboards to help emphasize their sales message.
-
Step 4
Take the best offer. Find the deal that's the highest price for the longest lease. That's the best move for you and for your company. Once you agree on the deal, move quickly to get it all in writing.
-
Step 5
Write up a contract. This is an expected part of the process, protecting you and the business who will advertise on the billboard. The contract states the agreement that you made with the business regarding their advertisement on the billboard space.
