Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Nasal strips
- Firm pillow or pillows
- Vaporizer
Step1
Apply a breathing strip on the top of your nose. These over-the-counter nasal strips should open up your nasal passages and allow for more air to flow through them, which may alleviate your snoring.
Step2
Sleep with your head propped up. You can use either two pillows or one very big and firm pillow. Using a firm pillow can prevent your throat muscles from relaxing too much, which is a cause of snoring. Having your head propped up helps reduce snoring by keeping your airway open.
Step3
Lose weight if you need to. Unfortunately, people who need to lose weight often snore because their fatty neck tissue is thicker than those who are an average weight. By losing weight, you will lose some of this excess tissue, which can help alleviate snoring.
Step4
Run a steam vaporizer at bedtime. Many times a stuffy nose is a cause of snoring and by simply running a vaporizer to help keep your nose unclogged, you reduce your chances of snoring.
Step5
Limit your alcohol intake, stop taking any medication that acts as a sedative and avoid antihistamines. All of these can reduce your air flowing through your nasal passages and cause snoring.
