How to Raft the Snake River

Snake River is located in the base of Hell's Canyon which is 80 miles long. Snake River can be at your finger tips by booking a guided tour to raft down the river. This river is for the intermediately experienced rafter. Follow these steps to raft the Snake River.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Book a flight to Boise, Idaho. You will need to get to Cambridge, Idaho and Boise is the best choice for a nearby airport.

  2. Step 2

    Schedule your guided tour with a rafting company that specializes in rafting Snake River. There should be many different vacation packages to choose from. Some will include overnight stays with food and beverage included.

  3. Step 3

    Get your Idaho fishing license if you plan on casting a pole during your trip. This can be requested at the local bait and tackle shops. Prices for the license are different for a non resident of Idaho than a resident.

  4. Step 4

    Bring a sweatshirt and sweatpants if the weather will be cool. You should also pack a rain suit and polypropylene underwear.

  5. Step 5

    Pack snacks and beverages of your choice. Do not bring glass bottles on your trip. Alcohol is allowed on the Snake River while rafting. The river guide should provide a cooler to keep your food and drinks in.

  6. Step 6

    Wear plenty of bug and insect spray when on and off shore. Bodies of water can have a localized insect hatch. If this occurs you would rather be safe than sorry.

  7. Step 7

    Arrive on time to meet your tour guide. He or she will go over all safety rules and regulations prior to getting in the raft. If you have any questions or concerns be sure to ask them before loading up to raft Snake River.
