How to Stitch a Star Eyelet
The Star Eyelet is also called an Algerian Eye Stitch. This stitch is popular on canvas needlework as well as pulled embroidery. By arranging the stitch in various ways you can make a pattern or border effect. This stitch may be a little hard for the beginner.
Instructions

-
1
Handle the stitch with the fabric in a needlework frame or embroiderers hoop to create tension.
-
2
Start by working a straight stitch into a center hole. Pull the stitch tight on the pull through to stretch the hole. This will give the hole the desired look. You can also use a knitting needle to widen the hole.
-
-
3
Get the central holes uniform and neat by making sure to take the needle down through the hole but bringing it back up through the next stitch, not the central hole.
-
4
Make each stitch the same length or lengthen some of them if you want a different look.
-
5
Use different arrangements of the stitch to make a pattern or motif. You can also set the stitch directly side by side in a row to make a border on clothing.
