The Rockettes are one of the most famous dance companies in the world. Competition to become a Rockette therefore is quite fierce. However, with a persistent drive, the correct size and the requisite skill set anything is possible. As Walt Disney once said, "If you can dream it, you can do it."

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Train for various types of dance including jazz, modern, tap and ballet. A Rockette must be fluent in all types of dance to be successful.

  2. Step 2

Posses the correct body type. It may be politically incorrect to say it but a Rockette dancer must be in tremendous shape. A person will never see an overweight or out of shape Rockette. In addition, while it is not a stated policy every Rockette is between five foot six and five foot ten.

  3. Step 3

Attend as many dance classes as possible. That includes the Rockette Summer Intensive that is taught by a member of the Rockettes and is a great gateway to becoming a Rockette. To be considered for the summer intensive a dancer must attend an audition or register and submit an audition video online.

  4. Step 4

Make a dance audition video to assist in becoming a Rockette. Be sure that the video is professional and well done. A dancer may even think of hiring a professional videographer to make the video. A person can submit their audition video online for consideration.

Tips & Warnings
  • When training for any athletic endeavor please train reasonably, eat nutritiously and listen to what your body is saying.
