Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Stay positive. Friends, neighbors and co-workers may tell you why you can't achieve your goal. Just ignore them and continue pursuing your dream until you accomplish it. Banish thoughts of failure from your psyche as soon as they appear. There's scientific evidence that positive thought does work, so consider that fact if you have temporary doubts about achieving your goal.
Step2
Work out a plan. Decide on a goal and then figure out what you need to do to get there. It may involve taking classes, losing weight, moving to another city or something as ambitious as producing a film. Set small goals, like stepping stones, to your ultimate achievement. Reward yourself every time your achieve one of these mini-goals.
Step3
Write it down. Keep a success journal or diary. Make lists of what you need to accomplish every day to achieve your goal. Draw pictures or cut out magazine clippings to motivate you and remind you of your desired results.
Step4
Visualize the desired result. Think about being a successful, confident business owner or athlete or whatever you want to be. Keep your goal constantly on the "front burner" until you accomplish it.
Step5
Persevere. Some days the road to your goal will run more smoothly than others, but never lose faith. Step back and change your approach if the situation merits it. Remember the saying "Rome wasn't built in a day" and don't give up, even if things seem bleak.
Step6
Learn from others. Talk to other people who have achieved the same goal you're pursuing. If you want to design costumes, contact other designers or frequent message boards associated to the field. By finding out how other people accomplished the same goal, you'll learn what to do and what to avoid.
Step7
Read inspirational books and sayings. From "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by Deepak Chopra to old favorites like "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, choose from a plethora of books to keep you motivated and give you fresh ideas.
