The environmental organization Greenpeace has over two million members worldwide. Although best known for its anti-whaling stance, Greenpeace members and activists support a wide range of issues, from protecting the Rainforest to eliminating bottom trawling for sea life and global warming. While some Greenpeace members give money, sign petitions or change their daily shopping or driving habits, the ardent Greenpeace member takes a first hand approach to issues as an activist.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Expose the hypocrisy and anti-environmental policies of large companies. Do things like disrupt activities of food producers in the Amazon by unfurling banners on their property.

  2. Step 2

Protest the policies of pro-business politicians and organizations. Participate in demonstrations and rallies at events like the Summit for Life on Earth. Unravel Greenpeace protest banners at the homes and businesses of politicians who support policies that harm the environment.

  3. Step 3

Join popular Greenpeace campaigns as a vocal activist. Get involved in issues like the illegal mahogany trade in Brazil or the use of toxic chemicals in manufacturing by major companies. Learn all you can about the issues and raise money for Greenpeace protest and education efforts in areas like genetic engineering and world peace.

  4. Step 4

Write to your local newspaper or TV station about Greenpeace campaigns. Get as much media attention as you can for the cause via sit-ins and other protests. Network with other activists.

  5. Step 5

Focus on the elimination of nuclear power and fossil fuels. Dissuade your friends and family from relying on cars for transportation all the time. Get them to walk, ride bikes or take buses and subways. Convince people to use solar power and other natural forms of energy production.
