How to Make Herbal Tick Oil

Keeping fleas off of your dog can be a constant battle, but if your dog is a beloved member of your family, she deserves the safest and most effective flea treatment available. Unfortunately, commercial flea oils are laden with chemicals and preservatives, but there is an alternative. You can make your own herbal flea oil easily.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glass jar with tightly-fitting lid.
  • 3 tbsp. vegetable oil, peanut oil or sweet almond oil
  • 20 to 40 drops essential oil of rose geranium

    Herbal Flea Oil

  1. Step 1

    Put all of the essential oils and the water into the spray bottle.

  2. Step 2

    Shake the spray bottle to mix the spray thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

    Set the sprayer to mist and spray the dog as needed, covering his entire coat.

  4. Step 4

    Shake well before each use.

  5. Simple Flea Oil

  6. Step 1

    Sterilize the jar in freshly boiled water.

  7. Step 2

    Combine the oil and essential oil of rose geranium in the jar and tighten the lid securely.

  8. Step 3

    Shake until the mixture is completely blended.

  9. Step 4

    Put a few drops on the dog's collar. The oil is powerful, so don't overdo it.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a quick and easy flea repellent put a couple of drops of essential rosemary oil or essential lemon oil on the dog's collar.
  • Dab a few drops of lavender oil between your pet's shoulder blades.
  • Never use herbal flea oil on cats, essential oils can sometimes be toxic.
