Weight Watchers Core Plan focuses on eating from a list of wholesome foods. This includes high fiber grains, lean meats and proteins, fat-free milk products and healthy oils. The Best Life Diet is a lifetime plan with a goal of helping you keep weight off and develop healthy habits. Both plans have two major things in common--teaching you to make healthy choices and an emphasis on whole grain, high fiber carbs.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read the details of each plan. Go to the Weight Watchers and Best Life Diet websites for explanations about each diet. There is a fee to become an online member.

  2. Step 2

Buy Bob Greene's book to get the full gist of how the program works. Also, consider attending a Weight Watchers meeting--for free--to check it out.

  3. Step 3

Choose foods from an approved Core list. This includes vegetables, fruits, non-creamy soups, whole-wheat pasta, brown rice, potatoes, high-fiber cereals and grains.

  4. Step 4

Follow the three phases of the Best Life Diet. During the first, you focus on raising your activity level and regulating your meal schedule. In Phases 2 and 3, you have to avoid six foods: high-fat dairy products, white bread, regular pasta, trans fats, fried foods, sugary sodas and alcohol.

  5. Step 5

Pay attention to your hunger, not to counting Points or calories. You don't have to on either plan. Instead, listen to your body and stop eating when you're satisfied. Learn your comfort zone of hunger.

  6. Step 6

Add in some extras. During Phase 3 of the Best Life Diet, you get Anything Goes calories. Weight Watchers gives you 35 Flex Points per week. Both can be used for splurges.

Tips & Warnings
  • Daily exercise will help you meet your weight loss goals.

on 6/24/2008 I think the Best Life Diet is better because you don't have to really keep track like Weight Watchers.
