Instructions

    • 1

Locate the belt you plan to use. An old, webbed belt works well for this project. If you don't have an old belt, go to a sewing supply store and purchase belt webbing and an appropriate belt buckle for the webbing. If you make your own belt, finish it before you start the tackle box.

    • 2

Design where you want to put the various items on the belt. You want the items you use the most where they are easiest to reach.

    • 3

Sew one end of the elastic to the belt. Hold a canister to the belt. Wrap the elastic around the canister and to the belt. This is how much of a loop you need to allow to let the canisters slip in and out. You want them to be fairly snug because the canisters carry your lures.

Continue making additional loops to hold your favorite fishing tools. If your favorite fish bait comes in a jar, make a loop to accommodate it as well.

    • 5

Heat the tip of the ice pick. Use it to poke holes in the plastic soap dish. The soap dish is your bait container. If you want to carry different kinds of bait, get two or more soap dishes. Hang the soap dish from the belt with a leather thong or cord.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't use a 35mm camera, ask at the local photo shop. It can save some canisters for you.
