How to Use Microsoft OneNote Help

Microsoft OneNote is an electronic version of a paper notebook. You can use it to put down ideas, thoughts, links and various other notes. It has many great features. The key to using some of them is a feature in itself, the OneNote Help system.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the help option in the tool bar. Most Microsoft products list this by default as the last option on the top tool bar. Microsoft Office OneNote Help can be found by using the keyboard shortcut F1.

    • 2

Browse the available options. There are keyboard shortcuts and you should check for any updates and diagnoses. You'll find the most commonly used at the top by default.

    • 3

Look through the OneNote help. When you use F1 or open under the toolbar, a new, smaller window opens. This will list topics for your review. Find one that your question falls under and open. You'll find a list of specific questions.

    • 4

Use the search feature. In the smaller pop up window, there will be a tool bar with a search box. If you know the feature you want, enter it in the box, OneNote will then look up any information available.

    • 5

Search for more information. After each help topic, Microsoft will ask you if the information was helpful. If you choose "No" or "I Don't Know," you can enter your question and send it to Microsoft.

    • 6

Follow the links in the answers. Microsoft includes links to pertinent information on their website. This is a great resource when looking for answers.
