Step 1
Place the kite on the ground at a 45-degree angle from downwind. Point your skates straight at the kite. Have a friend launch the kite. To avoid being overpowered in high winds, you should launch from a sitting position. The pull of the wind will lift you to a standing position.
-
Step 2
Increase power and speed by skating slightly upwind from the kite. Decrease power and speed by turning your skates toward the kite. Concentrate on achieving a balance between speed and control by steering either toward or away from the kite.
-
Step 3
Turn by flying the kite to the upper part of the wind window, then turn your skates in an upwind direction to slow down. Use steps to turn into a downwind direction again. Lower the kite while completing the turn and start picking up speed in a new direction.
-
Step 4
Stop the kite. Fly the kite into an overhead angle, and then turn towards an upwind direction. For a fast stop, turn into the upwind quickly.
