How to Make Curtains for a Dollhouse

Every little girl's dream is to have a dollhouse of their own. These days it is quite inexpensive to have one and decorate it to the child's liking. One of the details you can put into a dollhouse is curtains. Follow these steps to make curtains for a dollhouse.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the windows that the curtains will be covering. Be sure to measure height and width. If you are going to make more than one set of curtains then measure all the windows at the same time and write them down on a piece of paper, sorted by room.

    • 2

Cut the material that will be used to make the curtains to the size of the window plus 1/2-inch on all sides. The extra material will be folded to make clean, crisp edges on the curtains.

    • 3

Fold the extra 1/2-inch of material and iron to create a crisp line. By ironing the material you can avoid needing to pin the material in place.

    • 4

Sew the folded edges to secure the folded material. This will help to avoid fraying of the material as time passes.

    • 5

Staple the curtains along the top of the window inside the dollhouse. If you want the curtains to open you can cut up the center nearly to the top. Now the curtains you made can be split down the center and held to the sides with tiny installed hooks or a push pin. If using push pins make sure to push them in the walls all the way so children are unable to remove them and hurt themselves.
