Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Separate 2 halves of a plastic Easter egg. Spread a thick coat of petroleum jelly on the inside of each half. Set the halves into an egg carton.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1/4-cup of plaster of Paris, 2 tablespoons of water and 2 tablespoons of tempera paint powder into a paper cup. Mix the ingredients with a plastic spoon.

  3. Step 3

Fill both halves of the plastic egg with the plaster mixture. Leave a small space at the top of each half. Let the plaster set for a few minutes.

  4. Step 4

Put the halves together, making sure they are securely snapped. Gently shake the egg to combine the plaster on both halves.

  5. Step 5

    Let the eggs set overnight.

  6. Step 6

Discard the cup and spoon. Use a new cup to make a different colored chalk.

  7. Step 7

Remove the chalks from the mold by gently prying the halves apart. Slip a table knife between the egg and the chalk to loosen the plaster.
